Welcome to Spirited Rose Blog!
The name Spirited Rose holds meaningful symbolism ‘Spirited’ reflects strength and determination, while ‘Rose’ represents beauty, growth, and love representing blooming after hardship.
My first blog was called Holistic Fertility Journey created in 2016, but I felt it was time for a change. I’ve grown and evolved so much since I first started sharing our path to parenthood. Spirited Rose now feels like a more authentic reflection of who I am. I also wanted to move away from having “fertility” in the name after 12 years of trying to start a family, I’ve realised this journey has been about so much more than fertility. It’s shaped me in countless ways and helped me grow deeply as a person and as a couple.
When I first started writing my journal, it was a way to help me emotionally process our diagnosis of unexplained infertility. It became a space where I could document our story and share the highs and lows, the challenges and small wins, along with my thoughts and feelings.
Infertility can be incredibly isolating and lonely. I wanted to create a space where others could find comfort in my words and feel less alone in their own journeys. At the time, I struggled to find blogs about infertility that truly resonated with me, and that’s what inspired me to start initially start blogging my own story.
Over time, I grew tired of explaining our situation to family and close friends or making excuses to those who didn’t know about our private struggles. Infertility is such an awkward topic, I initially kept a lot to myself. But I’ve now reached a point where I feel compelled to share our story, not just to be open, but to offer insight into what we were going through, to help stop the assumptions, the judgment, and those uncomfortable conversations.
Initially, we chose not to pursue IVF, as there was no medical reason to do so after doing all the base line tests in 2013. After consulting a new fertility specialist in 2023 and undergoing laparoscopic investigation surgery, we ultimately decided to proceed with IVF to give ourselves the best chance of creating our own family with the clock ticking. Our approach throughout the years has been combined of conventional Western medicine, natural therapies, and lifestyle changes, all aimed at improving our overall health. From the beginning, we wanted to explore any underlying causes, which led us to consult a naturopath specialising in fertility.
I firmly believe that natural medicine and medical intervention can and should work hand in hand to improve the chances of a successful pregnancy. By addressing underlying nutritional deficiencies, making positive lifestyle changes, and reducing exposure to environmental toxins in the home, couples can create a healthier foundation for conception and pregnancy. For those having trouble conceiving, it’s important to remember that IVF isn’t the only path to parenthood
My hope is to empower and inform others who are trying to start a family by sharing the knowledge and resources I’ve gathered. One step at a time, I want to make a difference. I believe there’s value in our journey not just for those trying to conceive, but for the broader community. We all need to take responsibility for our health, not only for ourselves, but for our future children and grandchildren. Every decision we make now can have a lasting impact.
With 1 in 6 couples experience infertility, I feel a strong desire to raise awareness about how our lifestyles and environments are affecting both fertility and overall wellbeing.
No two stories are the same, and everyone’s experience is unique. I hope you find the time to explore more of our journey, and perhaps discover something new or inspiring along the way.
Every struggle in life presents a chance to grow and learn more about ourselves. Try to find the light, even in the darkest moments.
Take care, and allow your mind and body to flourish.
With love,
x Rosy
